Welcome, K1600 Forum Member! I am Capav8r on the K1600 Forum or Matt and Vicki Smith in real life. Many of you know us personally. We both have made many friends through our association with the K1600 Forum and the BMW MOA. I was reflecting on how certain things happen in life that lead to a chain of events. I was thinking about how we came to be K1600 riders. It all began with our youngest son, Cooper. Back in 2008, we made a borrow/trade arrangement with some friends of ours. We had a travel trailer at the time and they had a boat. We swapped for a weekend. Cooper (only 2 at the time) absolutely loved the boat and commented that we should get one. Well, that led to us buying our current boat, a 2006 Maxum 2600SE. That boat led us to a new group of friends at the local marina. One of the couples that we got to know, Jon and Justine Holland, were also into motorcycles. They knew that I used to ride. They were planning a motorcycle trip along the Mississippi River Road with a few other friends and wanted us to go along. Of course, they were all HD riders and were quick to point out that I could rent a Harley for the trip. Well, I never have been much of a Harley fan, but went and checked into renting a Road Glide. I took it for a test ride and knew that there was no way I could ride that thing for any real distance. A few days later, I was at a nearby BMW dealership looking at the GTL's. I test rode one. A week later, I owned one. That was in August of 2013. We are both very much thankful for the many, many friends that we have met at various events, such as the MOA rallys and the annual Tame the Dragon.
