Pat Astor Chooses Amsoil for his 2014 Super Duty

Erik Marten of CPS Auto and Marine in Grimes, Iowa finishes up the Amsoil Full Service treatment of Pat Astor's 2014 Super Duty 6.7 PowerStroke, Platinum Edition.

Pat Astor of Des Moines plans to keep this truck for a long time.  Helping to make sure that his truck provides many miles and years of trouble free operation, Pat chose to have all fluids changed to Amsoil premium products.  This includes all lubricating fluids, along with power steering and coolant.

I spoke with Pat the day after the services were performed and he told me that he could actually feel that the truck was much more smooth, quite and had more power.  Pat also commented that he was very impressed with how clean Dan and the guys keep the shop, especially the floors.  

In addition to the fluids, Pat also had the guys at CPS Auto and Marine in Grimes, Iowa install Amsoil's industry leading Bypass Oil Filter kit.  The Bypass filter removes particles in the oil down to 2 microns.  Normal OEM spin on oil filters leave particles smaller than 20 microns in the oil.  The bypass filter assures analytically clean oil.  Most engine wear caused by particles in the oil occurs due to particles between 4 and 20 microns.  By using the bypass filter, wear caused by particles in the oil is virtually eliminated.

By installing the kit, an additional 5 quarts of oil system capacity is added to the truck, offering much more oil, which increases cooling capacity and capacity to handle the stresses that this truck can impose on the oil.

Another benefit of the oil being "super filtered" is that longer change intervals can be obtained.  Pat will be using the "UOA" service offered by Amsoil.  Used Oil Analysis is a service where a small sample of oil is collected and sent to the labs at Oil Analyzers, Inc, where the oil is tested to see how much of the additive package remains, what and how much contaminant is in the oil and how much life is left in the oil.

While having the Amsoil Full Treatment Service, Pat also opted for the Filter Mag treatment as well.  Extremely powerful rare earth magnets were installed at the primary oil filter, transmission pan, transfer case and both differentials.  These magnets trap and hold any ferrous metal particles to prevent them from clogging filters or traveling throughout the systems.
