I want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas. I hope you have the opportunity to be with your family and enjoy the moment. Every year, it seems that Christmas comes quicker than the year before and always seems to be over faster, too.
I also want to thank everyone who has helped us make K16 Synthetics successful. I truly appreciate your business. I am looking forward to 2016!! Merry Christmas, The Smith Family I have talked to a few people lately that really like the idea of using a premium, Full Synthetic Motor Oil such as Amsoil, but for certain reasons, are not interested in extending oil change intervals beyond what their car's on board oil monitoring system tells them. For those people, Amsoil has created the Original Equipment - OE line of motor oils. Available in 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30 weights, these oils are the same high quality, Full Synthetic oils that everyone has come to know Amsoil for. Amsoil has created these oils with an additive package that is not as capable in the area of extending the service life as long as their other oils, but has allowed for a lower cost. While the length of service life has been reduced, the other benefits of Amsoil remain in place. Benefits such as increased fuel economy, lower emissions, superior low and high temperature performance and excellent engine cleanliness.
Amsoil OE Full Synthetic Motor Oils - Lower Cost, Full Performance, Change when your car tells you to. Another Amsoil bypass oil filter installation is complete at CPS Automotive and Marine in Grimes. This time, the vehicle is a Ford Excursion with a 7.3 PowerStroke Diesel. The kit used for this application is the Amsoil BMK-26. This 7.3 Ford PowerStroke specific kit includes all of the parts necessary for a complete installation. In addition to adding the highly efficient (see earlier posts) Amsoil Bypass Filter, this kit also remotely locates the full flow spin on filter to a much more accessible location, further easing maintenance.
This kit is also available for most diesel truck applications. Just get in touch with us and we will help you get what you need. Need it installed? CPS Automotive and Marine in Grimes will take care of it. Serving all of Iowa, they can take care of all of your auto service and repair needs. So, in early posts I have talked about the importance of keeping oil clean. My focus in those posts has been in the diesel truck market, although oil cleanliness has been becoming more and more important in all engines. Take the engine in the BMW K1600 for example. This remarkable engine has many very small oil passages that could become blocked by contaminants. While strapping an Amsoil bypass filter onto a motorcycle wouldn't be very practical, it does make the case for paying extra attention to performance properties of the oil selected for it. Qualities such as resistance to oxidation, which relates to fighting sludge, sludge that could potentially block these passages.
What I set out to talk about in this post, is a service that we offer - Used Oil Analysis. What is Used Oil Analysis? The basic function of oil analysis is to ensure the fundamental performance of the lubricating fluid and equipment. It is the process of analyzing a lubricant’s chemical and physical properties in order to detect lubricant or equipment issues before major problems develop. Oil analysis serves as a valuable preventive maintenance tool, allowing an accurate scientific look at the lubricant’s service condition as well as the condition of the operating equipment. The four primary areas of focus include physical fluid properties, contamination, additive metals and wear debris. The additive metals category focuses on chemical properties of the oil and compares them to baseline metals previously established for the oil. One of the most asked questions is: how long can I run between oil changes with Amsoil? That question is one of the easiest and hardest to answer. We have many oils that can easily run 25,000 miles or 1 year. For those oils, the answer is - 25,000 miles or one year. Provided that you also use an Amsoil 25,000 mile oil filter. This question gets a lot harder to answer when an Amsoil bypass oil filter is implemented. The reason being, the bypass filter removes virtually all of the wear causing particles from the oil. These wear causing particles, such as dirt, silicone particles and soot, left unchecked will lead to the oil as a whole being unfit for continued service. These particles fall in the 5 to 50 micron range. As talked about in earlier posts, the Amsoil Bypass filters remove particles down to the 2 micron level, leaving the filtered oil analytically clean. So, one cannot simply say "in 25,000 miles, the oil is no longer any good." In Fact, after 25,000 miles with a properly maintained bypass filter in place, the oil most likely is perfectly suitable for continued use at 25,000 miles. It is not uncommon for properly filtered oil to be serviceable well past 50,000 or even 100,000 miles. Does this mean that you should have a bypass filter installed, fill the crankcase with Amsoil never worry about it again? NO!! But, for someone who is really into knowing what their engine is doing, or someone who's livelihood depends on making critical decisions based on the best possible information available, Used Oil Analysis may be just the ticket. Using our Used Oil Analysis Service, oil samples are sent to our testing lab at regular intervals. Typically at oil filter changes. Small samples are collected in small containers and sent in. A few days later, the test results are available. A baseline is established with the first sample and subsequent samples are used for trending purposes. Each sample is graded and a recommendation is given as to whether the oil should be changed or is good for continued use. Using this method, drain intervals can be extended way beyond what you would think. It is also worth noting that there are general guidelines for what levels of wear material is normal in different types of equipment. We use that data to advice you of abnormal wear occurring in your engine. This is very helpful in letting you know very early on that there could be issues with your equipment quite a bit earlier than would normally occur. In over the road trucking for example, it would be very advantageous to know of an impending engine failure before that truck gets sent on a transcontinental haul, rather than half way through it when the engine fails. In the marine world, wouldn't it be nice to have the peace of mind of knowing that there is nothing unusual going on inside your engines before you set out on that once in a lifetime, bucket list "Great Loop Cruise"? So, is Used Oil Analysis for everyone? Of course not. It is very beneficial, however for those who have long term or high mileage expectations out of their equipment. Commercial vehicles, delivery trucks, class 8 over the road trucks, performance vehicles, boats, heavy construction equipment, cars and trucks that the owner plans to "keep forever". Those are the types of equipment that will see a big payback on the relatively small investment of used oil analysis. If you would like to know more, get in touch with me or click here. As an Amsoil independent dealer, I have had the pleasure of having the very best of product offerings in my lubrication products portfolio. Most everyone that I talk to in the lubrication business sector know who Amsoil is and most agree that Amsoil's products are second to no one. That sure makes life easier for me!!
Another product line that I have the privilege of representing is AGGRAND Natural Fertilizers. AGGRAND is a division of Amsoil, so you know that they have put forth the time and effort to engineer the very best fertilizers. I have to admit, I am not nearly as knowledgeable on the AGGRAND products as I am on the Amsoil products, but I am reading as much as I can on the subject and am also seeking out people who live this life, who I can listen to and gain knowledge from. If you are one of those people, I would love to hear from you!! Being in Iowa, there should be no shortage of experts in the field of making things grow!! Click here for a look at everything AGGRAND has for your organic growing operation. Click here for our contact page. Clean oil has always been important. With advances in technology, oil cleanliness is becoming an even bigger issue. Technologies like Variable Valve Timing typically use pressurized engine lubricating oil to drive various actuators. These actuators are very susceptible to contaminants. When contaminants get into these parts, not only does your engines performance suffer, so does your wallet as damaged parts need to be replaced in order to restore the lost performance. The solution? Install an Amsoil Bypass Oil Filtration System!
The Ford 6.0 Liter Diesel engine is a well known example of an engine that needs to have a very clean oil supply. This engine uses engine driven oil pumps to deliver extremely high pressure oil to the fuel injectors. This high pressure oil is used to drive a piston in each injector that in turn pressurizes the fuel and forces it through the injector nozzle. Sort of like a syringe that needs to cycle thousands of time per minute. You can imagine how contamination in the oil would cause wear in this injector piston, which I can assure you, it does. In the photos above, CPS Automotive and Marine in Grimes, Iowa has installed an Amsoil Bypass Oil Filter kit in this Ford Super Duty F-350. This truck has already had it's injectors replaced on more than one occasion in it's life due to oil contamination. The owner has decided to have the engine oil and primary full flow filter changed to Amsoil products along with the fuel filters, too. The Amsoil fuel filter for the Ford 6.0 liter will remove contaminants in the fuel down to 4 microns, further reducing wear on the injectors. The Amsoil Bypass Filtration System will remove particles in the oil that are 2 microns or larger. The synthetic filter media is 98.7% efficient at removing particle at 2 microns. This in essence delivers analytically clean oil. The life span of the replaceable filter cartridge is 60,000 miles or 600 hours or 2 years. While the Ford 6.0 Liter Diesel's injection system may be susceptible to contaminated oil and fuel, these issues can be remedied with these Amsoil products. In less than an hours time, Dan and his guys can have a Bypass filter installed on your Ford 6.0 Diesel. See our partners page for CPS Automotive and Marines contact information. Tell them Matt sent you!! Amsoil also makes Bypass filter kits for nearly any engine. Engine wear is predominantly caused by particles of 4 microns and larger in the engine oil. You can see why it is a huge benefit to get those particles out of the oil. Want to do it yourself, contact me and I will help get you set up. Thanks for reading, Matt I know a lot of people do not want to wait for things to be shipped. If you are one of those people, CPS Automotive and Marine in Grimes, Iowa is your place! Dan stocks a large quantity of Amsoil products at his shop. From engine oil, primary fluid and filters for your Harley Davidson to hydraulic fluid for your track hoe, CPS stocks it. Amsoil synthetic air tool oil? Yes, they have it. Cleaners, de-greasers from Amsoil? They have that, too. Stop by and check them out. Great service rates, too.
Dan Goldman and his crew at CPS Automotive and Marine in Grimes, Iowa recently installed an Amsoil bypass oil filter on a customers 2001 Ford F-650 truck equipped with a Cummins 5.9 Diesel. The install was done in about an hour. As you can see in the photos, supply oil to the filter is bled off of an existing high pressure port located on the top of the factory spin on filter location. Oil is delivered to the Amsoil bypass filter where the EaBP-100 filter removes particles 2 micron and larger. This cleaned oil is then delivered to the drivers side of the engine, where it is returned to the engine via a billet aluminum filler cap with a return line fitting. All parts used in this installation were supplied by Amsoil. To finish off the installation, the oil was changed to Amsoil's synthetic diesel oil. The EaBP-100 filter is an extremely efficient/low flow filter, with an absolute efficiency of 98.7% at 2 microns. This exceptional performance removes virtually all of the wear causing particles from the oil supply. The EaBP-100 filter has a service life of 70,000 miles or 800 hours of operation or 2 years. This filter also adds 1.5 quarts of oil capacity to the system. Read more about Amsoil's Bypass Filters here. Amsoil has bypass filter kits for nearly every engine. From boats up to class 8 over the road tractors, we have a setup for you. Do you have construction or ag equipment? A bypass filter setup is an inexpensive investment to get the most out of the equipment. Dan at CPS Automotive and Marine can install the right setup on your equipment in no time. They can even come to your location. Check out our Partners page for their contact information. Tell them Matt sent you!!
